Last year they had 341 civil and 486 criminal cases and since the population is only 492 citizens, that works out to be about 1.5 cases per person. To put that into perspective, that is 20 times the crime rate of Italy. There's a very interesting article from Fox News here which points out other little tidbits like...
- Most of the crimes are petty theft like pickpocketing and purse snatching
- 90 percent of them go unpunished because the criminals just slip across the border to Italy
- The Vatican has no prison system
