Last week, I posted about a furniture salesman from Norton who has released a series of odd commercials for his store. I know that this is fictional and animated, but I just have to show this for reasons I'll explain in a second...
Okay, now, in order to understand why I posted this you need to go back to last week's post and let me point out some similarities between the two commercials.
- The voice: Both have a low, weird voice that seems to be scarred by whiskey and lots of smoking or being hit by a car or something.
- The odd opening monologue
- The emphasis on credit: Both of these are fairly adament that they can help you out even if you have bad credit.
- The glasses: Marc and Cardgage have these odd, big, outdated glasses that were probably cool in the 80's, but now, just aren't
- Words on the screen: In both commericals, words are almost always on the screen in an indistinct, but undeniable way.
- Facial Hair: Both Salesman have a nice little goatee going on
- The phone number gingles
Jay and I rediscovered Senor Cardgage on Friday and this just blew our minds. They have to be associates or something, or they would have to be if one of them wasn't fictional. I just wonder if Marc influenced Senor Cardgage or if Marc based his commercials, charisma, and selling style off of Senor Cardgage. The world may never know...
(EDIT: Marc says "If you can't get credit at my store, you can't get credit anywhere!" I just wonder if that includes 'Senor Cardgage Mortgage'.)
