The Tragedy Of Wile E. Coyote

The makers of a certain Looney Tunes series have created a tragedy so tragic over the course of the last fifty years that no one else has ever approached. Not only is this an epic tragedy, but it has played out over the course of the past fifty years. It always starts out with a faint hope that our hero will finally get his way (and prey), yet every time, it ends with him alone, injured, and starving once again. Of course I am referring to the epic chases of Wile Ethelbert Coyote and the Road Runner.

You may be thinking that Wile E. Coyote is just a savage, wreckless beast who deserves all the bad things that happen to him, but you would be wrong in thinking this. It is clearly the Road Runner who is the savage beast in this saga. The Coyote is merely following the laws of nature here. You see, he is only trying to get the only source of food that he can find. He wants some flesh, not a leafy green salad. The Road Runner is an arrogant, self serving, jerk. He's alwasy taunting him, mocking him, and antogonizing him. If the Road Runner simply would've let things be, Wile could have easily moved on to another target, but he couldn't let that happen after all the humiliation that has been suffered at the Road Runner's fast feet.

Basically, the Road Runner is a cruel, malevolent creature and the Coyote is the victim. If you fail to see this then watch this and join me in the pity party for Wile E. Coyote. I am at a loss to see how few people feel this way, but it could change. It could change....
